Nora J. McGuffey
Associate
Nora McGuffey focuses primarily on bankruptcy litigation and financial restructuring matters. She represents and advises debtors, secured lenders, creditors, purchasers, and other interested parties in Chapter 11 bankruptcies, out-of-court workouts, and related adversary proceedings. Nora is an associate based in the firm鈥檚 Chicago office, where she is a member of the firm鈥檚 Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group.
Prior to joining Foley, Nora served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Karen B. Owens at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and for Chief Judge Karen K. Specie at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Florida.

- Trinity Broadcasting Network and its subsidiary in successfully challenging the Chapter 11 filing by Merit Street Media (Case No. 25-80156, Bankr. N.D. Tex.), a startup media network backed by television psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw, and converting its case to Chapter 7.
- Higher Ground Education and its subsidiaries, as Debtors鈥 counsel through a successful Chapter 11 reorganization and confirmation (Case No. 25-80121, Bankr. N.D. Tex.).
- The Roman Catholic Bishop of Oakland, as Debtor鈥檚 counsel in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy (Case No. 23-40523, Bankr. N.D. Cal.).
- Ideanomics and its affiliates, as Debtors鈥 counsel in their Chapter 11 bankruptcies, through successful 363 sale of its electric commercial vehicles and related intangible assets (Case No. 24-12728, Bankr. D. Del.).
- Heywood Healthcare and its affiliates, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit hospital system, as Debtors鈥 counsel through a successful health care Chapter 11 restructuring (Case No. 23-40817, Bankr. D. Mass.).
- Telephone USA, Inc., a telecommunications company, as Debtor鈥檚 counsel in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case through a consensual plan of liquidation, resulting a significant distribution to equity (Case No. 24-01686, Bankr. N.D. Ill.).
